AK to OK One Year!

Well we just about to reach the one year mark here in Oklahoma. This past year has been a whirlwind and has gone by so fast.  We are enjoying the summer and our pool. I am going to AK for three weeks and am very excited to see my family and friends!  Ryan and I have been enjoying the nice weather here in Oklahoma as well as the severe weather that we have.  I know that might seem strange, but it is fun to sit on our porch and watch the lightning and listen to the thunder.  Speaking of Thunder we have become fans of The Oklahoma City Thunder NBA team and enjoy watching the games.  The team is in the NBA finals and this city is buzzing with great energy!  Our four guinea hens that we purchased in March are now full grown and are roaming our property eating bugs and screaming at anything that moves.  They are fun to watch and take care of! Ryan really enjoys his job at the FAA Academy and continues to take on more responsibility.  I will try to continue to keep my blog updated as we continue our time here in Oklahoma.

AK to OK 10 Months

We have been here for 10 months now!!  Ryan and I have been busy.  We have been working around our property and house.  We have a lot of dead trees on our land so Ryan and our neighbor cut down three of them so far.  We have 13 total.  It is sad to see such nice big trees that have to be cut down.  They are dangerous when we have storms and bugs are also a problem.  In fact we had the top of one tree just fall off they other day.  Our four guinea hens are getting big and making lots of noise.  Ryan has trained them to go back into their coop at night time with just the sound of his voice.  It is pretty cool to watch.  We have not let them out into the yard yet.  They are still scared and not fully grown yet.  Our swimming pool is up and going!!  I went swimming for the first time on Cinco de Mayo.  We had our neighbors and a few friends from school over to watch the Oklahoma City Thunder basketball game.  Ryan and I have become fans and have even gone to a couple games!  There is nothing like watching an NBA game up close!  Ryan has been working on his car a bit.  He has begun the process of taking it apart so he can rebuild it.  My school year is just about over!  I have 13 more days.  I have verbally agreed to come back to Wiley Post next year.  I did apply for a few positions our here in Piedmont.  It would be nice to work close to home and not have to drive 25-30 to work.  Ryan has a commute to his office and it would save us gas and money!  I am going home to Alaska for three weeks this summer!!!  I am looking forward to visiting friends and family and enjoying cooler weather during the hot time of the summer here in Oklahoma.

AK to OK 7 Months

We have been busy.  Our trip to Alaska was great!!  It went by way to fast.  It was cold and we got about 15 inches of snow when we were there.  We have moved into our new house.  Ryan's Grandpa died. Robert's truck broke down on the way back from that trip. We bought a washer and dryer and cannot took up the washer.  My mom is coming to visit on March 17th.  What else am I forgetting???
Ryan's Grandpa Hunter died about six weeks after his Grandma Hunter.  He made the trip to Utah with his brother Robert and our sister-in-law Crystal.  The funeral was nice and he is buried next to is wife and son.  Ryan, Rob and Crystal help to divide up all the household items and they brought a trailer to OK with them.  On the way back Rob's truck started to have mechanical issues and broke down here in Oklahoma City.  They got the truck to a shop and got a rental car.  The truck took about a week for finish and Rob came a picked it up when it was finished.  We are storing a lot of Julie's items here at our new place.  So, we have a piano for the time being.  When Rick and Julie retire they are going to move here to the lower 48 and will get all their items then.

We have gotten all moved into our new house.  We are not 100% unpacked or organized.  That is a work in progress.  We bought a brand new washer and dryer at Sears.  Ryan was hooking up the washer the other night and we ran into some major problems.  He is having to completely change the water hook up and cut into the wall in the laundry room.  We are also going to paint the laundry room and our bedroom.  We have lots of little projects that we will be working on here at our new place.  The apartment is cleaned, but we still have to turn in our keys.  We have until February 29th to do that.  My mom is coming to Oklahoma to visit for 9 days.  She will be here on March 17th, which is only 29 days away!!  I am going to drive down to Dallas/Fort Worth and pick her up.  We are going to have fun showing her Oklahoma and doing things around our property!!  I am including a bunch of pictures with this post so you can see what we have been up to!!

AK to OK Christmas Edition

Well, I am two days from Christmas break.  Today went by so fast.  I am so excited to go home and see my family! We will be home for almost two weeks.  I am so excited to see how much my niece and nephew have grown since June! We got to see a lot of Ryan's family during Thanksgiving break and that was really nice.  About two weeks after we got back from Parowan Ryan's Grandma Hunter passed away, so he headed back to Parowan for a week of family time, funeral services and burying his grandmother.  He drove to and from Utah and had a safe trip.  I held down the fort with Kiska and Mia and enjoyed hanging out with some of my fellow teachers from Wiley Post.  We are well into the escrow process for our new house and are excited to get away from this crappy apartment and the violence of NW Oklahoma City.  There was a shooting this weekend at the end of our road and then today as I was driving home from school there were four police cars at an apartment complex on our street.  They were arresting several gentlemen!! I am going to post a few more pictures of our new house and what Ryan's 1940 Cadillac La Salle will hopefully look like once it is fully restored! I am also posting a picture of Ryan and two of his younger brothers out in front of the chapel during his grammy's funeral, this picture was taken by my father-in-law, Rick Neff.  Happy Holiday, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

AK to OK 6 months

Well we have been in Oklahoma for SIX months!  The time has flown by.  We just returned from our road trip to Utah.  We had a wonderful Thanksgiving with Ryan's family in Parowan, Utah.  Ryan's parents and two of this younger brothers and their families came to Parowan as well.  Ryan got to spend a lot of time with his grandparents, who are both dealing with many health problems.  We got to experience Zion National Park, Cedar Breaks area and Brian Head ski resort.  In other great new.....WE GOT A HOUSE!!  The day after we arrived home we put an offer on a house that we had looked a a couple of times.  We will be closing at the end of January and are soooo thrilled about the new place.  I will add a couple of pictures here with my blog post.  The house is in Piedmont, Oklahoma which is northwest of Oklahoma City.  It is 3 bedrooms, 3 full bathrooms, about 2,600 square feet, 2 acres, a swimming pool, a 1,460 square foot shop, two living areas, two dining areas, a garden, two car garage attached to the house, a nice pantry and a 1940 Cadillac LaSalle(which Ryan will be restoring)!!  So life is good right now for Ryan and Krissee Neff!  We will be heading home to Anchorage on December 22 for two weeks and are excited to see our families and friends!  Happy Holiday, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
